Suunto core review

I fall in love with this watch one year ago. I love the simplicity and the functions this watch offers.

Pros

  • smaller (height speaking) than the XLander and Vector, it fits rather easily under a sleeve

  • discreet yet sport design; unlike the other sport watches, it can get almost unoticed

  • in a glance, you can know if the pressure is going up or down, get the time, the date and even the sunrise/sunfall

  • both the pressures and compass proved to be accurate

Cons

  • rather cheap ring

  • poor readability in sunlight and no readability in low light

One year experience

After one year of usage, I had been nothing but happy.

Until I had to change the battery.

After having changed the battery, I didn’t placed the cap correctly. After the first bath, the watch took water. I ended with a dead watch. My fault entirely.

Because I loved it so much, I bought a new one from an US reseller.

The first Suunto Core I recieved was dead.
The second I’m using now has the battery problem. It means that *each* week I have to replace the battery.

I cannot send the watch back, as I bought it via Ebay and Suunto doesn’t recognize the reseller.

Conclusion

My two cents for those planning to buy this watch; it’s great, really, when it works. But Google is telling me that there are a lot of issues with the Core serie. Mainly dead watch and battery drained problems. So, buy it from an authorized reseller and keep your warranty in a secure place.
